Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report that a patient with facial nerve paralysis caused by traumatic temporal bone fracture was improved by non-surgical treatment.

Methods: We treated this patient with electric acupuncture, physical therapy and herbal medication. We evaluated the state of improvement by House-Brackmann facial grading scale, Yanagihara¡¯s unweighted grading system, DITI(digital infrared thermographic imaging) and EMG(electromyography). DITI was measured twice before treatment and after 25 weeks ; EMG before treatment and after 12 weeks.

Results: The subject was improved in estimation by House-Brackmann facial grading scale, Yanagihara¡¯s unweighted grading system, DITI and EMG.

Conclusions: Although this case was supposed to take surgical treatment, non-surgical treatment(electric acupuncture, physical therapy and herbal medication) was effective to improve many symptoms of facial nerve paralysis. We expect we can use non-surgical treatments more broadly for diseases which can be taken only by surgery with subsequent studies.
